Hi,
i'am walter and one main developer of the microbeast system.
I found out that my helifreak acount seems still be active, so i jumped in to clear up some things.
1. the Spektrum satellite receiver do not has a internal LDO (Voltage regulator)
2. the performance of this satellite receiver mainly depends on the quality of the powersupply
3. the correct voltage is needed for proper function of the satellite (as not only the rf chip, but also the processor itself is sensitive against this, as on cypress PSOC processors the voltage has to be defined in the firmware to configure the chip). For the spektrum satellite this means you are save within 3.1V to 3.3V.
4. a average BEC or Battery supply voltage on a standard FBL heli setup may vary (due to loss on connectors, cables, current of servos, blades characteristics or limited control speed capabilities of a specific LDO....) from milivolt up to a couple of volt during different flight conditions
5. the spektrum satellite dataline goes into a high impendance state for a short time during powerup, especially when the signal direction is switched from "Mainunit to Satellite" (used for binding) to "Satellite to Mainunit" (used for data reception), to always have a defined level on this dataline a pullup of 10K is inserted.
Conclusion:
To avoid any damage to your satellite and especially to your heli, make sure you deliver the Satellite the best regulated, stable and noise free powersupply as possible.
Make sure the powersupply is in the good voltage range from about 3.1V to 3.3V
In combination with the microbeast use the pullup resistor (10K) between dataline and the regulated power supply.
On the ouput add good quality ceramic capacitors, (X7R Type) one 4,7uF and parallel a 100nF would be good.
Try to use a voltage regulator (there are huge difference), that is very fast and has a very low voltage drop, that means it should be able to give a regulated output of e.g. 3.3V even if the input is already down at 3.6V.
Please keep in mind, even on a very good BEC or other powersupply (even 50A and up) you will still have huge voltage drops at the servo connetors, at least due to the loss in the cables and the connectors itself.
If you hook up a osciloscope, even on heavy BEC design and using backup battery, you could see a 6V supply go down below 4V for a couple of micro or miliseconds.
This voltage drops are that short, that you can't log them with normal RC logger stuff, but they are long enought that the electronic might go crazy if a voltage regulator is not able to keep track of this tol outputs a glitch free, noise free and stabel output voltage.
I hope this will help. Don't take the powersupply task for the satellite too easy, this is a main thing for proper operation.
BTW:
We at beastx specified the single satellite solution mainly for small helis as it makes no sense on big helis so far.
For big helis you would need a redundant powerfeed to the system, but due to the limited connectors and size this is not easily possible if one of them is already occupied by a satellite.
Using then Y cables makes this as complicated as using a normal receiver with the 3 standard connection cables.
best regards,
Walter

Вот схема включения. Всё просто.
